Boom Boom New York: #KaranJohar will be seen playing himself in this reality comedy

Karan Johar, who makes a return to acting with Boom Boom New York, will be seen playing himself in the reality comedy revolving around the IIFA awards. The film will be a hilarious take on the backstage happenings of the awards gala night. Karan had made his full-fledged debut in acting three years ago in the 2015, Ranbir-Anushka starrer, Bombay Velvet, after which he had sworn never to act again following the disastrous response to the film. Subsequently there were reports that the enterprising filmmaker was all set to return to acting in a pivotal double role in the above laugh riot, which was earlier titled, Crazy Hum. Apparently the makers redefined the characterizations in the film which has now been shot in 3D, also making it the first comedy to be shot in the format.

Boom Boom New York boasts of a huge ensemble cast including Lara Dutta, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani, with Lara playing the role of a backstage management head. Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, the reality comedy tells the story of two unlikely youngsters who are in search of a better life and find themselves on an unexpected trip to New York City. The film has been directed by Indian-American writer and director, Chakri Toleti, who is best known for his Kamal Haasan starrer, Eenadu, the official remake of A Wednesday. More interestingly the film has been shot in 3D, making it the first Hindi comedy to be shot in the format. Boom Boom New York is scheduled for a February 23, 2018 release.
