While the Kapil Sharma-Ishita Dutta starrer Firangi releases today, co-stars and fellow actors, who have known the two, were said to have been stunned by the timing of Ishita’s hush-hush wedding just two days prior to her film’s release. Moreover questions are being raised about the conspicuous absence of co-star Kapil Sharma, whom she had not so long ago described as a “wonderful co-star and friend.”
In an interview a few weeks ago, the 27-year old actress had expressed her fascination about being cast in a Kapil Sharma film, “I and my family were always part of the big Kapil Sharma fan club. When I came to know that I was doing a film opposite him, I was thrilled. I had also told him that we would have a long two-hour promotion for the film on his show,” she said. Kapil Sharma’s show went off air in August this year due to his persistent health problems. Ishita had also said that she admired her co-star’s great sense of humour, “On the sets, we were constantly laughing and rolling on the floors. Also every time we would shoot, people around would gather to listen to his jokes. It was fun to shoot with him. We shared a great rapport and he was a great co-star to relate to,” she said. Kapil Sharma had revealed in a recent interview that his “work commitments” prevented him from attending the wedding but that left a lot of things unexplained. According to a source, Kapil Sharma learnt about the wedding only a day in advance. Apparently he was not kept in the loop because there were doubts about how he would react to the decision, just when their film was on the verge of release.

Interestingly, the Drishyam actress was also eagerly looking at consolidating her career in Bollywood. She had also planned to have a special screening of the film for her mentor Anupam Kher, having studied acting from his well-known academy, “He takes out time to watch all his students’ films. I was in touch with him when Drishyam released and I want to make sure that he watches the film this time too,” she said, adding that one of the directors she also looked up to was Nishikant Kamat. “When he came to know that I had signed Firangi, he congratulated me. He is one filmmaker I really look up to,” she had said.
The actress had also dismissed off rumours about her relationship with husband, Vatsal Seth whom she met during the shooting of Rishton Ka Saudagar, “I am in touch with him and he is a very good friend. When you do a show with someone, it is normal to chill with your co-stars. Once the show gets over you have your own life,” she had said.
