Contrary to his image of a tough uncompromising action hero, who hardly ever engages in friendly banter, Sunny Deol will be seen showing his hitherto unknown sense of comedy in his forthcoming film, Poster Boys. According to Shreyas Talpade, who is making his directorial debut with the film, he was amazed by Sunny’s comic take on the situations he had conceived in the film, “Sunny-paji is best known for his dhai kilo ka haath and his dare-devil action but this was a great new side to him. He has a fantastic sense of humour which was evident in his comic timing and the way he interpreted his character in the film. I found some of his gestures, body movements and one-liners extremely cute. Knowing his action hero image, it was exciting to see this side,” Shreyas recalled, adding that Sunny and Bobby’s chemistry and their comic timing reminded him of the Dharmendra starrer, Chupke Chupke, “When I happened to see Chupke Chupke for the first time I was absolutely taken in by Dharam-paaji’s character. It was fantastic. I am sure the audiences will get a similar feeling when they see the Deol brothers portray their parts in Poster boys,” he said.
What he found even more encouraging was the fact that Sunny despite being a veteran actor and a director in his own right, never interfered in the director’s vision, “Sunny is an actor, producer and director himself but having said that he never questioned the vision of the director. Yes he would give his suggestions and all actors do the same but he would always maintain that it was my call as a director whether the suggestions seemed perfect in the scheme of things. Both he and Bobby just followed my vision as a director. Coming from someone like him, it was a big thing for me. I want to thank both of them for showing the faith in me,” Shreyas recalled.
Poster Boys tells the story of three young men, played by Bobby Deol, Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Deoll, who are trapped in a tricky situation when they erroneously become the face of an advertisement promoting vasectomy. The three find themselves in chaotic situations when their families confront them. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Sunny Supersounds Pvt Ltd and Affluence Movies Pvt Ltd, the film is the remake of the hit Marathi film, Poshter Boyz, which was produced by Shreyas Talpade.
